I have to go pick something up - I may be a few hours. Shop students, obviously that's a no on the 'Can we work on our project today?' question I got from a couple of you. No point in doing that until I get the materials you need in anyway, and that probably won't be until the start of the week.
xp_cyclops: (closer to fine)
Even so, I think I've selected a good term project for the shop class. We are going to make a cannon - specifically, an 1844 howitzer. We will be taking a short field trip (don't anybody faint) to Fort Hamilton within the next few weeks to take a look at that particular gun there. Then we're going to research, design, and build a replica here.

It'll be fun.
xp_cyclops: (I just need a moment)
I'm going to be back in the office tomorrow - finally. Start of term paperwork is piling up and various headperson-ly decisions need to be made; I can't dump it all on my co-headperson, or at least I'd feel like a really bad person if I did.

But I'm just there to do the administrative work. If you want to blow up your room or your roommate, or do any of the other thousand things that can require disciplinary action, I'm afraid you're stuck with Ms Munroe or the Professor. My door is not open.

And as for the team - don't ask when, because I don't know.
xp_cyclops: (sigh)
But is anyone planning to head into town today? Or maybe tomorrow? I need to pick up some things at the pet-supply store.
xp_cyclops: (withdrawn)
I just got a phone call, reminding me I had something to pick up at the music store. I've left it there longer than I thought, between the vacation and the earthquake and everything else... I'd kind of like to go get it, but I don't really want to head into town on my own.

So...

Struck me I've been kind of non-present, even after Dr. Voght let me out of her clutches. I am still around, no worries. Didn't wander off again or anything.

I don't really want to go into the details of what happened. Suffice to say I wound up in a situation I couldn't handle by myself. Which makes me very glad I have very persistent friends with access to supersonic transport. I'm very grateful for all the work everyone put into finding me.

I probably won't be back at work for a while yet, but I will be here.

Ahem.

Does anyone want to confess responsibility for the mess in the rec room? There appears to be a broken widescreen TV where there should be an entirely intact widescreen TV. The fact that there was no visible attempt made to clean up the mess made me think the culprits had a little accident and then ran.

Confessions can be made in private, if you'd prefer.
xp_cyclops: (well then)
What a distressing state of affairs. I think my co-headperson and our loyal secretary have stolen it all. I'm sitting in the office - under lights that are very nice, thank you, Rahne - and I have next to nothing to do. You'd think I was still on vacation.

Guess who?

xp_cyclops: (oh really)
I won't tell you where we are - have to keep some of the mystery, after all, but we're back in the correct hemisphere, and should be home within a couple of days.

I have a number of pictures. Specifically, a large number of turtle pictures. (That should be enough to tell you one of the places we've been.)
xp_cyclops: (imagine that)
... since Jean and I are headed to the airport in about ten minutes.

Where are we going? I'm not saying.

When will we be back? Also not saying. Except possibly to wish you all a good rest-of-June.

Take care, everyone.

I went for a run.
Did some school paperwork.
I programmed one training scenario, went over three tapes of other scenarios.
Marked some late assignments.
Some more paperwork.
Did an hour in the gym.
Watched a training run.
Debriefed after the run.
Wrote up my thoughts.
Read and commented on crossevaluations from the last run.
Did more paperwork.
Spent two hours in the gym.
Did a training run of my own.
Wrote up my own evaluation.
Watched the newsfeeds while I did some more paperwork.
Updated the threat database.
Did some more paperwork.

I just moved from one thing to the other, and... you know, every single one of them felt absolutely pointless. Someone needs to built a Scott-automaton to do all these things, because it would probably be more efficient. Or maybe I'm an automaton already, I don't know. I certainly feel like one.
xp_cyclops: (pensive)
Funny, to stop and think about that. Funnier - and not in the good way - to stop and realize just how close we're getting to the end of term. If you find me crushed beneath a mountain of paperwork some morning over the next few weeks... well, don't be too surprised. I'm quite behind. On everything.

I'm trying to think back and I can't remember when the last time we had a huge flare-up on the journals was. I don't seem to recall threatening to pull the plug on the system for a good long while... that's probably a good thing. I wonder if we're starting to communicate better around here.

All right, I'm done rambling. Work to do.
xp_cyclops: (intrigued)
... of in-house activity this weekend to keep people at least semi-diverted. The younger kids especially are starting to show the strain.

Anyone have any ideas? Right now I'm leaning towards some sort of movie marathon. I'd need volunteers to help supervise - obviously I've got a few additional demands on my time this week.
xp_cyclops: (cross me and die)
... and obviously, I'm never taking a vacation again. Forge, I want to talk to you about a shock training collar for our wandering team telepath. I think we've moved past the bubble stage.

For my students, I've got that latest batch of quizzes of yours all marked. You did very well, actually. I also see that someone's piled the assignments from the last week very neatly on my desk - thank you, and I think that once I get caught up with our noble headmistress I'll mark those and hand them back tomorrow.

Ororo, I'll be down in a few. We definitely need to talk.
xp_cyclops: (a little lost)
If any of my students want to see me, just stop by. I'll be back in classes tomorrow; sorry for the unannounced absence, although I gather you were very well-behaved for your substitutes. Thank you for that.

Anyone with anything leather-related, you may still want to go through Ororo or Alison. I still have some catching up to do.
xp_cyclops: (bite me)
I don't know whether or not the car's salvageable, with all this damage. I'm not sure I particularly care. It's not like I'm particularly comfortable driving these days anyway, given the whole lack of depth perception thing.

Besides, it's sitting in the garage mocking me. And no, this isn't me requesting help to fix it.
xp_cyclops: (collapse)
I missed them, obviously. I'm sorry. I haven't been feeling all that well today and time got away from me. I'll email everyone separately to reschedule...
xp_cyclops: (worried)
If anyone needs me, I should be back sometime tonight.
xp_cyclops: (huh)
First of all, it's Sunday (and yes, I know that doesn't usually stop me from working through the day). Secondly, I like watching the Olympics, especially the winter games, and I haven't had a chance to do it yet this time around. So I think I'll assemble an appropriate array of junk food and camp out in the third-floor lounge with the big TV for a few hours. If anyone wants to join me, they're welcome.

Oooh. The luge is on this afternoon, too. To me, that's always looked like such fun.
xp_cyclops: (yikes)
I am apparently driving Jean into town this afternoon. She claims we need an unspecified something for the suite, and that she's going to be too busy leafing through catalogues during the drive to be, well, driving.

Apparently we even have to take my car. Which I am driving.

I'd moan about my wife being manipulative and sneaky, but I knew that before I married her.
