"I've fallen, and I can't get up!"
Jan. 14th, 2004 10:39 pmI'm certain many of you won't get the joke in the subject line, being so young and all.
This is just a note to say yes, I am here. You've seen me around school, just not on the boards. I got behind on reading all these posts, and after trying to catch up, I realize I'm just not going to be able to.
So, I'm starting from now. If there's something I should see, please feel free to point me to it. And if you're new and we haven't met, drop me a note or come by my office, or catch me in the hallway and introduce yourself.

Date: 2004-01-15 05:37 pm (UTC)I think you ran past me in the hallway a few times. Next time, stop and say hello, or I'll try and track you down to the music.

Date: 2004-01-15 03:01 pm (UTC)I mentioned on the board earlier about being ready to start driving. I read Jamie's booklet about the Permit test and I think I'm ready to go take that test. If we could find some time this weekend, that would be great.

Date: 2004-01-15 06:27 pm (UTC)I've been waiting. Perhaps that was the problem, but I do recall mentioned that I didn't want to push.
And I've also been listening. Perhaps with all the shouting going on, it's made it that much more difficult to hear.

Date: 2004-01-15 06:46 pm (UTC)Besides, I rather like it when you push.

Date: 2004-01-15 06:59 pm (UTC)I take it that you occupy some sort of staff position here?
I am Manuel de la Rocha. The name will mean nothing to you, but I was also called Empath. I am here at Ms Frost's behest, and I am currently hating these plebean classes that Xavier insists that I take.
I am also undergoing physical therapy to regain the proper use of my rather battered body.

Date: 2004-01-15 07:05 pm (UTC)I know who you are, but thank you for the introduction. I look forward to meeting you in person.
As for ESL, would EFL be a better term? It stands for English as a Foreign Language. A more politically correct term, to be certain.
And if you can test out of mathematics, there's no need for a remedial class.
Re: Who are you, again?
Date: 2004-01-15 11:49 pm (UTC)Yes, EFL would be a more accurate term. And I can test out of this maths course easily - if someone would translate the test into Spanish for me.

Date: 2004-01-15 08:30 pm (UTC)Yes, it does appear that my cars are most often stolen. Likely because I am one of the few to have my own vehicles here, and I do tend to pick the best ones.
Logan is the one who makes most free with my car or bike. I do hope you're not thinking of following in his footsteps?

Date: 2004-01-15 08:56 pm (UTC)(I'm kidding Logan! Joke!)
I am not pleased with cars being stolen. Borrowed, on the other hand, is more acceptable. Asking before borrowing is necessary.
Is there a reason you need a car, or was this just an amusing way to introduce yourself to me?

Date: 2004-01-15 08:38 pm (UTC)I'm Shinobi Shaw. Arrived with Pete and Emma back in the.. second week of December, I think it was? Around then, anyway. I think I've seen you in the halls once or twice, but I've never taken the time out to say hello.
Oh, and I see your "I've fallen, and I can't get up!" and raise you a "Where's the beef?"

Date: 2004-01-15 08:48 pm (UTC)I think we have passed each other, but I've been a bit distracted. I must admit, I was concerned when you arrived, and mentioned my concerns to Emma. We should definitely talk sometime. Maybe over breakfast before classes tomorrow?
And thank you for making me feel not so old by getting the reference in the subject. As repayment, I know where Ororo hides the good coffee, and where Paige hides the good tea. Your choice tomorrow morning, if you have the time.

Date: 2004-01-15 08:58 pm (UTC)We can definitely schedule some lesson time in, Kitty. As long as you don't phase anything vital out of the car, you should do just fine.
no subject
Date: 2004-01-15 09:08 pm (UTC)I doubt I could do anything to the car. I mean, outside of phasing the whole thing, or phasing something and putting it inside the car (which definitely qualifies as a BAD idea) I doubt I could affect it.
