I went for a run.
Did some school paperwork.
I programmed one training scenario, went over three tapes of other scenarios.
Marked some late assignments.
Some more paperwork.
Did an hour in the gym.
Watched a training run.
Debriefed after the run.
Wrote up my thoughts.
Read and commented on crossevaluations from the last run.
Did more paperwork.
Spent two hours in the gym.
Did a training run of my own.
Wrote up my own evaluation.
Watched the newsfeeds while I did some more paperwork.
Updated the threat database.
Did some more paperwork.

I just moved from one thing to the other, and... you know, every single one of them felt absolutely pointless. Someone needs to built a Scott-automaton to do all these things, because it would probably be more efficient. Or maybe I'm an automaton already, I don't know. I certainly feel like one.

I'll see what I can do about that automaton thing.

Mr Summers, I know that you don't do this kind of thing but, um, maybe you should take the night off or something and relax?

Here's a thought.

If you're not happy doing all of that crap, then -stop doing it-.

Thank you. I doubt anyone will notice the difference.

I want an automaton to do workouts for me. Where do I sign up for that?

. . . Do you want to talk?

I'd offer to make coffee, but I don't think you need to deal with having caffeine in your system right now.

But the crap needs to be done. I'll just hang on and wait for the automaton.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Real question is - does it need to be done _by you_?

Trust me - don't do shit that makes you crazy.

Forge is building them. Maybe he's taking orders.

Yeah but does that count, fearless leader?

I could provide ginger tea.

Are we sure no coffee? Because coffee would be good. I ought to have some coffee, actually, I still need to make up the to-do list for tomorrow.

Remember what we talked about...and you can always pawn off some paperwork on others. Maybe what you need is an assistant. Actually, what you need is a vacation, but maybe you'll be more willing to get someone to help out.

If you want it to. Pretend I said something about consensual reality here.

That sounds like a really good idea, Marie. It would be ideal for someone just learning the ropes, I think.

I have an assistant. Hi, Dani. But her I have to pay overtime.

So that's a no then. Darn, no getting out of tomorrow's run then.

Clearly she either isn't getting enough of your work because you're a control freak (very likely) or you have more than she can help with and she needs an assistant for things.

I don't think you need anything that's going to keep you from sleeping right now.

Rahne's ginger tea might be good.

I had a whole two days off this week. That should do me for about six months, I'd say.

Rahne's ginger tea might be really good. My ulcer is complaining.

I've decided to name him Bob, by the way.

That's a little bit scary.

Why don't you come watch Air Force One with me and you can tell me all the things they get wrong? I'll bring the popcorn.

I was away for two whole days this week, remember? What, you don't think I pull 19-hour days regularly, do you?

If I make it hot (gingery) enough it will wake you right up, actually, but not for very long.

Yes. Please try to avoid provoking Bob. Amelia would give you a very pointed lecture.

Tea is good. We've learned this over the years. Personal taste regardless.
