xp_cyclops: (don't look at me)

Although I didn't expect to sleep for twelve hours. Especially since I did sleep through most of the flight yesterday. And thank you, to whoever had breakfast sent up this morning... it was so far away from hospital food that it doesn't exist in the same food-galaxy.

I'm supposed to be staying put, mostly, and resting. Kitty, you should open the book on how many hours it takes me to go stark raving insane, just sitting around like this.

By the way...

Do you happen to have what's left of your visor? If I could take a look at HOW it shattered, I could build a better, stronger one that won't fracture under stress.

No, I don't. But it's not neccessary to build another, although thank you for the offer.

What, you're retiring? Or are you in a sort of powers shock? That's not uncommon for those kind of injuries, I understand.

Retiring at 27... what an awful thought.

No, it's... just that the explosion had some side effects. Our medical redheads don't think I'll need the visor or the glasses anymore. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around that.

Wait wait wait. Whoa. You blew your eye out and GAINED control over your power?

That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in weeks. Except for Toad being the under-14 ballroom dance champion of Wisconsin before his mutation kicked in.

Congratulations are in order, I suppose.

Forge, I didn't blow my eye out. The doctors at the hospital removed it because eyes are more or less unsalvageable when they're impaled by ruby quartz shrapnel.

But yeah, it is pretty ridiculous. And I nearly blew a nurse's head off when I panicked and they came back on, apparently because I thought they should be on.

Ah. Well, that makes some more sense. But I thought it was some weird brain damage that kept your powers always on.

Did they keep the eye? That'd be a neat dissection project for mutant biology.

I don't know. None of it makes sense to me and I'm having a hard enough time not panicking every time I open my eyes and realize I don't have my glasses on.

And now I have mental images of my eye sitting in a jar.

I did the same thing after my accident. Kept trying to put both feet on the floor when I only had one, but could still feel both of them. Although you're up and walking within a week after that - that's freakin' impressive.

Sort-of walking. Although Jean's just reminding me that I had a bit of a concussion, too, which I guess explains the dizzy spells as much as anything else.

I'm not sure that I can still feel the eye, but I do keep fiddling with the bandages. Or trying to. I keep getting my hand TK-slapped.

Hold on a minute

When I showed up Forge introduced himself as the genius who managed to nix his own powers and Mr. Summers was the bloke who needed shades to keep from blowing things up every time he blinked. Now Makerboy's straightened out again, and Mr. Summers can control his mutation. And it's been less than a month. I call that inconsiderate. It's hard enough to keep the millions of mutants I'm meeting straight without you lot going and changing things on me all the time. At this rate it looks like I could wake up tomorrow to find one of my roommates' powers has developed the power to melt people with his brain by crossing his eyes. (And if our current run of luck holds, it's likely to be Kyle.)
