Does anyone know...

Is there a written version of 'Sleeping Beauty', or is it an oral fairy tale? Because I need to do some research, I think. Strategy. Tactics. That sort of thing.

Or maybe I'll just watch the Disney movie.

According to my research...

The earliest known written version of "Sleeping Beauty" was published in 1636 by an Italian man by the name of Giambattista Basile. 61 years later, there would a republishing of the story in the book "Tales of Times Past" (modernly known as "Mother Goose Tales") by Charles Perrault. However, Perrault greatly altered the stories, cleaning them up for a broader audience.

If you would like the original plot of the story of "Sleeping Beauty", I would be happy to e-mail it to you; it just doesn't happen to be suitable for young readers. Actually, it's kind of disgusting.

I hereby dub you the Research Goddess. Although, didn't I dub you that before? I should have, if I didn't...

And that original plot doesn't sound very promising. Ah, well. Back to the drawing board.

I now consider myself Dubbed.

No, no it's not. It's icky. Here's a hint: necrophilia.

Necrophilia? Great...

Yeah, definitely back to the drawing board.

Think she might wake up if I sit by her bed and sing bad pop at her?

Necrophilia. But it ends up all right; Sleeping Beauty ends up marrying him anyway after he divorces his wife who tried to eat his children.

No. Really.

I'm not sure. Personally, I would try to burrow into a deeper sleep if only so I wouldn't have to wake up to that.

Yeah... I suppose bad pop wouldn't encourage me to wake up either.

Oh, for heavens... I'm coming over.

I'm okay, Paige. Just... you know. Deja vu.

Not that I'd object too strenuously if you did want to come over. Token male-pride objections only.

I know. That's why I'm ignoring the male-pride and coming over.

If you'd like to continue objecting until I got there, make yourself feel better, go right ahead.
