xp_cyclops: (oh really)

Guess who?

I won't tell you where we are - have to keep some of the mystery, after all, but we're back in the correct hemisphere, and should be home within a couple of days.

I have a number of pictures. Specifically, a large number of turtle pictures. (That should be enough to tell you one of the places we've been.)

A place with turtles.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
A place with very large turtles!

[identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You realise there are 28 zoos in New York alone.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but this way we got to see them in their natural habitats. As well as all sorts of other interesting wildlife that doesn't live naturally anywhere else.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
We did, actually.

Good to hear from you. I was starting to worry.

So you haven't been attacked by ninja-cultists? Just the turtles? ...you don't mean zombie turtles or something, right?

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, you've been living here too long already. :)

Be good to see you two back, Mr. Summers.

See, and I'm suddenly curious. Do you get tan, or just high? :)

[identity profile] x-rahne.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it will.

And. Er. We checked on the full-spectrum lightbulbs. There are ones that would fit the light fixtures in your office. Or suite. (Lower-UV for the suite?) Do you want them?

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
... lightbulbs. Huh. I see where you're going with this...

Maybe just stick to the office for now? I'm not sure Jean wants to be exposed to that much UV. Huh. Things I should have done ages ago, though... thank you, Rahne.

[identity profile] x-rahne.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, I'd been testing a bit to see whether I could sit under them without burning, but there's the whole long-term question too, so I was n

Filters! I just found filters. I was starting to think I'd have to ask Forge if he could make them, but somebody already did. They claim they'll block UV without cutting the rest of the spectrum. Much, anyway. So if you want to try in the suite, maybe those would work.

Unless UV's the critical part for you. No idea.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't tan at all. Just high.

I have decided that I rather like the equator.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
See, and now I'm picturing an intervention, or something. "You can come north of the Tropic of Cancer! We believe in you!"

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'd never make it in Alaska with the seasonal lack of sun...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Great place to vacation during the other half the year, though.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
No, they're very nice turtles. We weren't allowed to get too up close and personal with them, but I've got some great pictures.

[identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU'RE BACK!!

Brace yourself. :D

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not back just yet, you know. Still a continent away. (Oh, there I go with the hinting.)

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Couple more days, I promise.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
(That should be enough to tell you one of the places we've been.)

New Jersey?

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Funny man.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Did these turtles have a peculiar affection for pizza and surfing?

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we may have stopped in to visit a turtle by that description for a couple of days, yes. We were on our way to visit my very non-turtle-like grandparents, so.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
...not actually what I meant.

How is he?

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
He's good, Lorna.

And oh - I missed a pop culture reference, didn't I? Drat.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
No, my fault for trying to be clever.

Thanks. Tell your grandparents I said hello.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I will.

I have to drop their plane back off, after all.

[identity profile] x-traction.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
I can't wait till you are both back! Though I'm glad you finally took a vacation, you've been missed.
