Swiped Jean's laptop...

She's probably going to scold me. Not supposed to be straining my eye. I couldn't resist, though - I've been feeling so cut off, and it's worse today because I'm not sleeping as much. And because all the news channels are still talking about is the riot. I was there and it wasn't a whole lot of fun, so I'm not really interested in listening to pundits rehash what happened. Although it's entertaining to see how frustrated they are that there's no actual footage of what happened at the monorail.

I'm feeling quite a bit better today. Don't get me wrong, it still hurts - quite a bit, actually, but at least my head's clearer. They're talking about letting me out of here tomorrow, possibly. It would be good to be home. I will not miss the nurses, at all. They do stupid things which cause me to leave holes in the ceiling.

Glad to see you up and around. Now go back to bed and stop straining your eye. *grins*

Well, I'm not quite around, but we are coming home today. And Jean promised me Starbucks at the airport.

Coffee is of the strong. Although, dude...Starbucks? Gloria Jeans is so much better if you're going for the 'chain store' thing.

The White Chocolate mocha is seriously to die for.

What did you DO that wonderful visor I spent hours on? I swear, we just can't have nice things around here. I'm going to start making you people leave a deposit on the equipment, I am.

Hey, blame the guy with the Molotov, not me.

So are you thinking of a prosthetic replacement? With the kind of damage Dr. Grey talked about, it wouldn't be a functional one of course, but I know of a few doctors that I can recommend that do work with realistic prosthetics for limbs and eyes.

I... don't know. Doesn't seem to be much point, really, if it's just cosmetic.

I suppose I hadn't really thought about that yet.

There's an interesting article in one of the engineering journals I subscribe to that suggests a link to the body's natural sense of wholeness that can be provided by a well-designed prosthetic limb, and the ability of the patient's psychological self-image to recover and compensate. I used a lot of the references when designing Mr al-Rashid's new legs.

I'll read it. Like I said, not something I've been thinking about yet, but I guess that I should...

Where is the line to make cyclops jokes? Or better yet, pirate jokes? You should update your uniform so you're dressed like a pirate and we can call you Corsair.

Maybe for next Halloween, I guess.
